Queen Pelosi

Weak leaders will always move to consolidate their power, for fear of losing it. Pelosi rose up the ranks during the days when the Democrats were the minority and the talent pool was very shallow. Unlike the Republicans, who gained the majority in 1994 under a new generation of leaders who basically ousted the old guard, the Democrats regained the majority two years ago simply because the Republicans had grown lazy and incompetent. Consequently, Pelosi, who would never have been anything more than a very insignificant back bencher under normal circumstances, has been elevated to a position for which she is ill suited. She is utterly clueless as to how to use her power responsibly.
